Raiders Reporting To Camp! Asomugha To Sign One Year Tender!!!

The Oakland Raiders kicks off today, when the players are required to report to training camp in Napa. The first practice is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Numerous offseason workouts, meetings and minicamps provided Kiffin and his coaching staff a glimpse of what to expect this season. Now comes the time when Kiffin gleans the necessary insight to help him determine who makes the 53-man roster.

"You want to figure it all out right now, and so do we," Kiffin said after an offseason practice about where his team stood. "How good are we going to be on offense, defense? But we don't even have pads on, so there's a ton of work to go, and a million things that will happen between now and then. Our roster will change; our depth chart will change, so all we're trying to do is get individuals better."

    Extra Quik Bits
The Raiders will have all their players present Thursday when they open training camp in Napa, Calif. It did not appear that way Tuesday evening, when cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha said he was strongly leaning toward staying away unless the team agreed not to use the "franchise" tag on him again next offseason.

However, Asomugha said Wednesday evening that he has decided to report to camp and will sign his one-year, nearly $10 million contract. "I'm going to go in to camp focused and play the year out and see what happens," he said by text message.

Since the ouster of Art Shell in early 2007, the speculation regarding Al Davis’ relationship with his head coach’s has undergone a great deal of “scrutiny”.

Anytime we discuss our off season moves it always seems to come back to a discussion of the recent past. Many argue that these moves this year are due to poor drafting and poor player development over the recent years and that they are merely desperation moves to try to fix the damage that Al Davis has done.
